Oran Bass

Funeral services for Oran Bass, 68 of Athens were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shelby Chapel with the Rev. Otis Munns officicating.

Burial was in Shelby Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.

Mr. Bass a retired farmer and lifelong resident
of Henderson County died early Sunday in the County Jail.

Mr. Bass was picked up by an ambulance shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday at a home on Bishop street where he was staying.

Police said he was examined at Henderson County Memorail Hospital and was not admitted.

After he was released at the hospital city officers took him to jail.

He died there during the night.

Mr. Bass is survived by three sons, including Ernest Bass of Athens, a brother, A.R. bass of Athens, five sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Jackson
of Tyler, Mrs. Margaret Childress, Mrs. Lesslie Caldwell and Miss Dessie Bass all of Tucson and Mrs. Mildred Cannon of Palestine, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Justice of the Peace Bill Richards ordered Autopsy.
