James Madison Speer, 81 years old, a retired grocer and farmer, died last night in Hulst Subacute Hospital here. A native of Paoli, he lived most of his life there before going to Bridgeport, Illinois, 25 years ago and came to Indianapolis, three weeks ago.
He was a member of the Christian Church in Orange County. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Paoli and burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Church near Paoli.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Mary Speer; a son, George W. Speer, 2044 College Avenue; a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Beaumont of Trenton, N.J.; a brother, Aaron Speer of Orange County and six grandchildren.
