Plane Crash Kills Rancher DAGGETT Cal (UE)


Sheeprancher Harry Dale Gentry, 37, flying home from a trip to El Centro was killed when his light plane crashed on his private landing field, sheriff's deputies reported today.


The sheriff's office said Gentry was landing at Cool Water ranch two miles east of Daggett at about 6 o'clock last night when the crash occurred. The plane, a Cessna 140, was demolished but did not burn. Gentry died immediately. 


Gentry, who was flying alone, leaves his widow Delone, two daughters and a son.

Harry Dale Gentry, 35, of Cool Water Ranch, died July 19 in an airplane accident near Daggett. He was born in St. Thomas, Nev., and came to California in 1932, locating in El Centro, and living there until moving to Daggett last May. He was a rancher and stockman, and was a member of El Centro War, Latter-day-Saits Church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. DeLone Gentry; a son, Samuel, and daughters, Darnell and Julia Ann Gentry, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Mabel Gentry, Long Beach; father, Samuel Gentry, Banning; brother, Samuel D. of Bell, Eastus C. and Paul M. Gentry, El Centro; sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Jones, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Bessie Tobler, Boulder City, Nev.; Mrs. Lela Skelton, Long Beach, and Mrs. Ethel Shartle, Torrance. Service were held today at 2 p.m.in the chapel of Mottell's Mortuary. Bishop William P. Appleberry of Long Beach Ward, Latter-day Saints Church, officiating.
