Ms. Jones was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program at Syracuse University and graduated in 1998. She graduated as a registered nurse and a second lieutenant. She also served on the staff of the 31st Combat Support Hospital as a critical care nurse in Baghdad, Iraq. During her over 15 years in the Army, she reveived several honors including the Bronze Star (posthumously), Joint Service Commendation, four Army Commendation Medals and four Army Achievement Medals.
“She was a very dedicated person and was always smiling,” said a co-worker and friend, Capt. Susan Gilbert. “If anyone asked her to do something, she would do it. And she was very kind and gentle and patient with the patients.”
