A. P. Davis was the son of Anderson Davis and Lucinda Wright. He and wife Mary Frances Heard left Alabama with her family in 1859 heading west to Union Parish, LA. Can you imagine crossing the Great Mississippi River in a ox-pulled wagon! He served in the Louisiana 31st Regiment during the Civil War and was captured/POW at Natchez, MS for most of it. On a cold December morning, this elderly man, who was now nearly deaf, was killed by a train while walking into town. They had a total of 8 children of which which 2 died before they migrated to Louisiana.
