George Washington Holland b 7/15/1838 d 6/10/1895 Paulding Co Ga md
1st 2/4/1864 Lydia Camp dau of Burrell Marion Camp and Mary E. Stegall
and 2nd Mrs. Mary Jane Henderson Elsberry. Wash Holland was blue-yeyed,
blackhaired, heavy set about 5ft 9 in., a Confederate soldier, enlisting
1861 under command of Capt. J.A.R. Hanks at Camp McDonald for duration
of war. In May 1862 he was hospitalizaed at Chimporazo Hospital Richmond
Va. for acute diarrhea and released next month. Wash served under Gen.
Lee He was captured at Battle of S. Mtn and Antietam, later paroled at
Warrenton VA 9/1862. In May 1863, wounded again at Battlle of
Chancellorsville but proceeded on with Gen Lee's campaign at
Gettysburg. He was home in Feb of 1864 when he married Lydia Camp. but
captured 3/31/1865 at Bentonville NC. He rec'd pension as result of
woods after the war.
