The son of Martin Morley (1795-1853) and Lorena Hodges (1797-1871), Charles Morley was born, most likely, in Camillus, New York, in Onondaga County. His family migrated to the new state of Michigan, settling for a time in Macon Township. Charles married there and remained, while his parents went further north, to Saginaw.
Charles Morley first married Eveline Bird (1827-1875), the daughter of Burtis and Mae Bird, marrying in Macon Township on August 24, 1847 and having two children together:
Burtis Bird Morley (1853-1930)
Frederick C. E. Morley (1856-1932)
Charles Morley's wife passed away in February of 1875 and he remarried later that year, marrying Clarissa Clarkson, age 46 and a spinster, the daughter of Daniel Collen Clarkson and Deborah Cadmus, marrying in Macon Township on November 25, 1875.
His second wife died four years later and Charles remarried in 1883, marrying Inez E. LeBaron (1846-1917), the daughter of Sirrell C. LeBaron and Myra Percilla Tribou. They married in nearby Tecumseh, Michigan on May 8, 1883.
