(Mar. 2) HAY SPRINGS - Charles Edward "Chuck" Renchen, 89, of Hay Springs died Thursday, March 1, at Chadron Community Hospital. He was born March 7, 1911, at Robinson, Ill. His parents were Fred and Ida Mae (Highsmith) Renchen.
He worked on a ranch south of Nenzel for several years. He married Margaret Barnes. The couple lived on the Barnes Farm until their retirement from farming in 1979 when they moved into town. Mrs. Barnes preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Nelson of Hay Springs, Geraldine Renchen of San Francisco and Lois Renchen of Denver; two grandchildren; three adopted grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by brother Herman Renchen of Robinson, Ill.; and sister Margaret Miller of Leavenworth, Kan.
Mr. Renchen's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Hay Springs, with Father Robert Karnich officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Hay Springs. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Columbkille Catholic Church. Memorials may be made, in care of Chamberlain-Drabbels Mortuary, P.O. Box 443, Hay Springs, NE 69347.
