Henry Crumback was born in Pennsylvania and married Mary Troup there about 1807. They were Mennonites and left Pennsylvania and made their way to Waterloo County about 1811 via New York state. They settled near Black Horse Corners in North Dumfries Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, where Henry resided until his death.

News - ON, Waterloo, Kitchener - Berlin Chronicle (1856-1860), 25 Jan 1859. "13 Dec 1858 On Monday, 13th Dec., Henry Crumback, of North Dumfries, near the "Black-Horse" Inn, aged 79 years. The deceased was born in Pennsylvania, in the year 1780. He had been the Father of a family for 54 years, and resided on the place where he expired for about 40 years. He was the Father of 17 children, 8 sons, 7 daughters, Grandfather to 73 children, Great Grand-father to 12 children, his issue being 100 in all"

Crumback family researchers have indicated that Henry is buried on private property but his headstone appears to be located in the Hallman Mennonite Cemetery where his wife is buried. Their headstone photos may be seen on www.canadianheadstones.com.
