Ruth was born near Briery Branch, VA., on May 29, 1927 to Wilbur and Alma (Cupp) Driver. She was a graduate of Dayton High School. Ruth worked for many years for Rockingham Farm Bureau Insurance. Additionally, she was self-employed from her home as an income tax preparer and consultant. Ruth's greatest loves were her tremendous love of family, music, flowers and gardening. She began playing piano at Briery Branch Church of the Brethren as a teenager. For over 50 years she was organist at Mount Bethel Church of the Brethren.
On June 29, 1945 Ruth was united in marriage to Paul G. Croushorn at the home of Paul's uncle, the Reverend Simon Glick. Paul preceded her in death on May 12, 2006.
Surviving Ruth is her son, Dwayne D. Croushorn and fiance' Alice Johnson, grandchildren Shannon Croushorn, Jennifer Campbell, Laura Croushorn and Brian Croushorn, seven great grandchildren, sister Colleen Surratt, brother Paul Driver and wife Nancy, and sister-in-law Marie Click and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Erva Driver, daughter Crystal Carmen, twin sons Samuel and Daniel, sister Eva Driver and brother-in-law David Surratt.
Graveside rites will be held at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Friends may call any time at Ruth's home at 53 Cooks Creek Road, Harrisonburg, VA., or at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater, VA. The casket will be closed.
