Jay Bailey, 71, of Cowen died March 24, 1997, in Thomas Memorial Hospital.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired miner, a member of the UMW, and attended Locust Grove Baptist Church, Craigsville.

Surviving: wife, Jean Ball Bailey daughter, Kaye Bailey Dumbroski of Augusta, Ga. stepsons, David Dotson of Cleveland, Robby McCauley of Mentor, Ohio, David McCauley of Huttonsville brothers, Fred Bailey of Charleston, Luther Bailey of Mansfield, Ohio sister, Isabelle Cunningham of Pennsylvania three grandchildren 12 stepgrandchildren two great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home, Cowen, with the Rev. Okey Wayne officiating. Burial will be in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
