"DEATH CALLED
GOOD CITIZEN
ON WEDNESDAY

After months of suffering from one of the deadliest disease known to humankind, yet with patience and staunch to his faith in a better life to follow. W.D. Selvey, died at his home at 119 West Wardville Street at 6:50 Wednesday evening.

While Mr. Selvey had been ill of the dread disease for a number of months, he had been seriously ill only some five weeks, up to that time being able to get around town. But for the next fortnight it had been seen that the end was near and Masonic friends and neighbors assisted the family for looking after the good man in his last days and hours.

The deceased was past 69 years of age, having been born on July 17, 1857. He had been a resident of Cleburne for 38 years and had a host of friends who esteemed him most highly for his fine character and sterling qualities.

Mr. Selvey was a member of the First Christian Church, of the Masonic order in three branches, a Woodsman of the World and a member of the carpenter's local union, No. 923. The Masons will have charge of the services at the grave this afternoon and pallbearers will be chosen from the ranks of both Woodmen and Masons, it was believed yesterday afternoon though these had not been named at a hour.

This good citizen, W.D. Selvey who has gone to join the innumerable thong which has passed before him, is survived by his wife and three children, one son and two daughters as follows:

Paul Selvey of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. J. S. Wheeler and Miss Maude Selvey of Cleburne.

Funeral services will be held at the Central Church of Christ this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. E.W. McMillan, the minister officiating. Burial will be at the Cleburne Cemetery"

Husband to Abbie Lena Wallis. Son of James Selvey and Mary Broom. William Selvey was quite a character and did a lot of wandering around before he married. It is believed the town of Sylva, North Carolina, is named after him. He died of "cancer of the face."
