Mr. Roosevelt was born in Edwards County, April 26, 1899, the son of Clyde and Amy (West) Roosevelt. He married Edith Smith Oct. 20, 1920, in Albion.
He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and also worked for the State Highway Department for eight years.
He was a member of the Olive Congregational Church and was former trustee and senior deacon of the church.
He was associated for years with the Edwards County Singers Association and was active in Edwards County Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife Edith; two sons, Marvin Roosevelt, Albion; Joe Roosevelt, Clay City; a daughter, Mildred Barber, Spring Valley, Ca.; a sister Alberta Farris, Albion; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
