William Tribune Pitchford was born June 24, 1855, in Allen County, Kentucky, son of Fleming Pitchford (1815-1899) and Susan Sukie Russell (1817-1899).

William married three times, first to Martha Matilda Starling and second to Sarah Pipkin. On April 9, 1885 in Tuscumbia, Missouri (Miller County), he married Mary Lucetta Clay who was born November 7, 1865 in Miller County, Missouri, daughter of William Allen Clay (1830-1892) and Charity Jane Miller (1832-1930).

William and Lucetta had three known children: Mellie Frances Pitchford Truax (1886-1970), Walter O. Pitchford (1888- ), and Edna Mildred Pitchford (1892-1984).

William died September 23, 1913 and was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma (Grady County). In 1920, his widow, Lucetta, a seamstress in a mattress factory, age 57, was living with her daughter, Edna M. Frederick, a ladies ready-to-wear saleslady, age 27; and Edna's first husband, James A. Frederick, a mattress maker, age 27, born in Texas; in Chickasha, Oklahoma (Grady County).

Lucetta died February 8, 1956 in St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma (Grady County).
