He was a Captin during the Spanish American War. During World War I, he became a Colonel in the Quartermaster Corps.

He was a banker, and was also a Los Angeles, CA City Councilman, from 1929-1931.

In 1927, he took an Around-The-World trip, accompanied by a movie unit. When he returned, the entire trip had been recorded, on "many reels of film.
