Deaconess Harriett Rebecca Brooks Taylor, depated this life on February 19, 1965. She was born in Manchester, Chesterfield, VA, May 2, 1886, to the late Henry Anderson Brooks and the late Hannah Frances Harris.
She was educated in the Presbyterian school in Newport News, VA and in the public schools of Manchester, Chesterfield, VA.
She became a member of the First Baptist Church, South Richmond, 65 years ago. She served on the deaconess board for the past 16 years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, John Brooks and her son, Haywood Taylor.
She was married to Benjamin Taylor, Sr. on July 19, 1907. To this union were born eight children: Benjamin Taylor, Jr., James H. Taylor, Sr., Haywood Taylor, Sarah Taylor Kane, Annie Taylor Brown, Ruth Taylor Jackson, Clifton J. Taylor, Sr., and Grace Taylor Baccus. She is survived by all her children, except her son Haywood. She is also survived by a loving sister, Sarah B. Thomas; one niece, Evelyn Smith; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Eulogistic service held Monday, February 22, 1965, at First Baptist Church, South Richmond, with Dr. William L. Ransome, Pastor, officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery.
