RICHARD L. Gary, Indiana Age 59 years, a lifelong resident of Gary, Indiana, departed this life on Wednesday, March 11, 2009. A graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1967 and veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a retired employee of Inland Steel Corp. with 30 years of service and a former employee of Edgewater Systems and the Horseshoe Casino. He was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. His father Ezell Ramsey Sr. preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Ramsey; mother, Samella Ramsey of Gary, IN; daughters, Shante McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL, and Latonya (Duane) Spears of Great Lakes, IL; 2 brothers Ezell (Sandra) Ramsey Jr. of Gary, IN and Bernard ( Dee Dee) Ramsey of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, San Bonita (Maurice Woodson) Ramsey of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Brandon McDaniel of Atlanta, GA, Richard McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL, Duane Spears Jr. of Great Lakes, IL, Terrel Miller of Jacksonville, FL, and Lexus Spears of Great Lakes, IL; 1 great-granddaughter, Rinaya McDaniel of Jacksonville, FL; father- & mother-in-law, William and Verdie Cox of Gary, IN; brothers-in-law, William (Josephine ) Bowden and Chauncey (Michelle) Cox of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation Monday, March 16, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Family hour from 12 to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services at 1:00 p.m., all services at Pilgrim M.B. Church, 1301 W. 21st Ave., Gary, IN, Rev.
