Whatever He was to you, there is one thing that can be universally said about this man no matter what your relationship. He spoke the truth as he saw it whether you liked it or not. His life was built on a solid foundation beginning with his Savior Jesus. He served his country in the Korean War and saw things most people only see in the movies, though what He saw was the gruesome truth of war. Robert's love of firearms led him to open his gun shop, but he still managed to keep up with running the farm with the help of his wife. Theirs was a union of admiration, respect, hard work and unconditional love. If you needed something and He could help, you didn't have to ask, it was Uncle Bob to the rescue and you didn't even have to be a relative to receive His help. Truth be told, Uncle Bob had a tender heart which a very few elect had the honor to witness. "Junie" worked side by side with Robert for 49 years, sharing the good and the bad, the tears and the laughter. "Junie" was his all, his very breath & He hers. Now Uncle Bob is sleeping peacefully with no pain to be felt and I truly believe He deserved to pass on in the best of ways, quietly sleeping. His Spirit soars high, rejoicing in freedom from pain and limitations. Let us not be sad for too long, let us rejoice that God allowed our lives to touch the extraordinary life of our dearly loved Robert Martella. Can't you almost hear him say, "that's life, no one said it was gonna be fair, now there's work to be done, let's get to it?" We love you and miss you Uncle Bob. Until we meet again Godspeed. Resting beside his son Kevin.
