Sp4 Keith Charles Buckingham, Vietnam Veteran and native of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Specialist Four Keith Charles Buckingham was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Buckingham served our country until February 25th, 1969 in Dinh Tuong, South Vietnam. He was 22 years old and was not married. Keith died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. Keith was born on August 27th, 1946 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. SP4 Buckingham is on panel 31W, line 044 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

Keith was Mr. Cool in Anoka High School. We all looked up to him. It was a shock to hear of his death just months before I was drafted and went to Viet Nam. I still think of him occasionally and what he might have been had that war not claimed him so early. I have been to the wall and I did a rub of his name. Later man. Jeff Wyatt.

I met Keith in 1967 when I got out of the Air Force. We had some good times. I spent time with him right before he left for Vietnam. They are good memories. We still think about him often. Doug Chapman(Vietnam Black Barons), [email protected].

We served together: Keith was a fine soldier and I regret waiting so long to thank his family for his and their ultimate sacrifice. We served together in a very special unit that saved a lot of lives. May God hold you in his everlasting arms. Glen Brush, [email protected].

He is the Son of Mr and Mrs Charles N Buckingham, 708 Newton Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55430.

He served as a Specialist Four with the 43rd Infantry Platoon "Scout Dog", 9th Infantry Division, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Army Commendation Medal.
