Cornelius A. McCaw died at his home near Aledo Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m., his death being caused by the accidental discharge of a gun about 9 o'clock Friday night, only a short distance from his own home. Mr. McCaw was born Nov. 5, 1873, and was raised in the Ohio Grove neighborhood. On April 4, 1895, he was married to Miss Sarah L. Tary, and to them six children have been born. Most of his life has been spent in Mercer county and two years ago he purchased a farm near Aledo. He was a member of the Ohio Grove Christian church, which he joined when a boy. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Aledo. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church in Aledo Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. The services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Jones of Aledo, assisted by Rev. L. F. DePoister of Keithsburg. The I.O.O.F. lodge had charge at the grave. The burial was in the Aledo cemetery.
