"Betty L. Stewart Jordan, 74, of Eastbrook-Harlansburg Road, New Castle, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in Jameson Care Center, New Castle.
Born Dec. 10, 1933, in Sligo, she was the daughter of Merrill R. and Adda M. Murray Stewart.

Mrs. Jordan was a homemaker. Her interests were woodcarving, gardening, volunteering for various organizations and community service. She was the Democratic chairperson and enjoyed her family and friends. Mrs. Jordan was a member of the Clem-Moore Presbyterian Church in New Castle.

She first was married to Carl Heeter who preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1955. She then was married Jan. 4, 1957, to Walter Jordan, who died Feb. 5, 2003.

Surviving are a daughter, Lori Rhoades and husband, Richard, of New Castle; two sons, Chris Jordan and wife, Susan, and Steven Jordan, all of New Castle; five grandchildren, Michael Heeter and Jason Heeter of Callensburg, Michael Jordan, Megan Jordan and Marissa Roberts, all of New Castle; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa Heeter and Ella Heeter, both of Callensburg. She also is survived by one brother, Richard Stewart and wife, Velma, of Parker.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by one son, Michael Heeter; four brothers, Murray Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Paul Stewart and Lloyd Stewart; and five sisters, Dorothy Blymiller, Tacy Armstrong, Almeda Stewart, Nettie Mauthe and Anna Belle Stewart. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the R.

Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Velis Vais, pastor of Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, East Liverpool, Ohio, and pastor emeritus of Clem-Moore Presbyterian Church, New Castle, officiating.
Interment will be in Concord Cemetery, Parker.
