When her first husband Shed Blansett died, Sally was left with several acres of land and was pregnant. After marrying Charlie Grindstaff, they both sold the land each of them owned. With the money from the sale of their respective properties, they rented a box car. They then took themselves, Sarah's family, Charlie's first wife's family, and a few others to Center, Oklahoma. When they arrived, Sally and Charlie bought a farm on the east side of Center and lived there for several years. Center was located at Gaar Corner. While living there, they had a daughter Birdie. Unfortunately, Birdie was kicked by a horse and killed at a young age (one or two years old).

When it was time for some of their sons to go to high school, Sally and Charlie sold their
Center farm to Luther Sullivan and bought a home in Ada. They lived at 800 W. 7th Street in a house with electricity and plumbing. They continued to own several farms throughout Pontotoc County. Six years before Sally's death, the two moved to Santa Barbara, California, to be close to their younger children. Sally had an operation for an obstruction of the common bile duct, but contracted hepatitis from which she later died.

She was preceeded in death by her parents Stephen & Mary Jane; first husband James Shed Blansett; daughters Birdie Grindstaff & Mary Ethel Cantrell; sisters Emma Revell, Bettie McIlroy, & Lucy Dame; brother Sam; grandchildren Milton Grindstaff & Noel Blansett; and great-grandson William Aeschbacher.

At her death, she was survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles; sons Shed Blansett, John Grindstaff, Walter Grindstaff, Burton Grinstaff, & Leonard Grindstaff; daughter Addie Fowler; twenty-three grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, & nieces.
