ALTON, ILL. —

Bernice Alene Neumann, 88, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 10, 1923, in Saline County, the daughter of Lewis and Ola (Nelson) Barlow.

She was formerly married to Phillip Parks on June 29, 1946 in Morgan Field, Ky., he survives in Bethalto. She then married Norman Neumann in Alcorn County in Mississippi on April 19, 1957. He passed away on Aug. 21, 1991.

She was the owner/operator of the Country and Bloom Floral Shop for over 25 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Worden New Hope Baptist Church since 1971.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Lynda Parks of Wood River; two daughters, Pamela Behme of Worden and Cindy Mosher of Wood River; seven grandchildren, Dawn Laws, Jason Behme, Lynsi Behme, Nathan Davenport, Justin Wright, Stacy Ortiz and Melissa April; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor, Jarrah, Latrell, Terrel, Abbie, Kortni and Kennedy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia Cotter of McLeansboro and Ruth and Myrl Boaz of Phelan, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Barlow of Watseka; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Clarence Barlow.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Douglas Cemetery in Eldorado.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
