He served his country in the struggle for American Independence as a member of Capt. Church's Company 4th Pennsylvania Battalion commanded by Col. Anthony Wayne. (Revolutionary Marker)

Johann Georg Bieber was born to Dietrich and Maria Elizabeth (Kieffer) Bieber on 29 April 1755. He was baptized on 21 May 1755 according to church records ("The Records of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church in Dryville, Rockland Twp., Berks County, PA," translated by Elaine D. Schwar, 1997). The large monument currently at his grave was erected many years after his death, thus the birthdate error.
George served in the Revolutionary War, then married and settled in Franklin County, PA, where he lived the rest of his life except for a few years after his wife's death when he went to live with his married daughters in southern Virginia. Contributed by: Leslie Lewis # 47394663

Extract from the "History and Genealogy of the Bieber, Beaver, Biever, Beeber Family", by I.M. Beaver, pub. 1939:
In the second row, near the gate, "George Beaver, b. in Chester Co., Pa., May 1, 1755, d. in Franklin Co., Pa., Jan. -- 1836. He served his country in the struggle for American Independence as a member of Captain Church's Company, 4th Penna. Battalion, commanded by Col. Anthony Wayne." The compiler was informed that this fine monument was erected by his grandson, James A. Beaver, when he was Governor of Penna. There is no stone marking the grave of his wife, Catharine Keefer Beaver, although there is room on either side.
