Robert's father was Robert Clifton Anderson (1920-2007) and his mother was the former Miss Delpha Mae Meyers (born 1923), who was born in Mexico of an American father and Mexican mother (named Ada Miel). Robert Clifton and Delpha Mae were married in 1941, Robert Sterling was born the following year. Robert attended Glendale (California) High School. He was an athelete and played varsity football and was on the swimming team. On the evening of March 4th, Robert went for a ride in the car of his friend Bill Goldthwait (age 22) who was driving. Robert's brother William Bruce Anderson (born October 29, 1943 - age 16) and James Mierzwiak (age 16) sat in the back seat. The car traveled along a dark and winding Angeles Crest Highway at Hidden Springs (north of Lancaster) when they struck a car driven by Edna Coldwell (63). Goldthwait, William, and James were seriously injured and Edna had minor injuries, but sadly Robert was killed. Robert was survived by his parents and younger brother William. Robert had 4 step-brothers and sisters from his father's other marriages who never knew him: Sandra Kay, Leslieanne, Robert Christian and Roberta.
