Nola Rannie Spears of Portland, formerly of Springfield, died March 6 following a stroke. She was 81. Spears was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Carlow, Mo., to Caleb and Martha Niday Stephens. She married Donald LeRoy Spears in Cameron, Mo., on Dec. 25, 1949. He died June 6, 1990. She lived in Trenton, Mo., and in Springfield before moving to Portland. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and birds. She also enjoyed describing how Charles Lindburgh flew over the family farm when she was a child. Survivors include two sons, Michael and Larry, both of Trenton; a daughter, Sheryl Ferguson of Marcola; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her second husband, Jerrald Ward, died previously. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Funeral services eill be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, OR.
Mrs Spears was born on Sept 27, 1922 in Carlow, the daughter of Caleb and Martha Nida Stephens. She was married at Cameron on Dec 25, 1949 to Rev Donald Spears, who died on June 6, 1990. They lived in Arizona and Oregon, moving back to Trenton in 1972.
In addition to her sons, she is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Ferguson of Marcola, OR and Viola Mayfield, of Lebanon, OR; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
in addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, four brothers and three sisters.
