Lloyd Joseph Hurst was the first born son of Eleanor "Nellie" Gillespie and Joseph C. Hurst. His widowed mother married John A. Kirkham after Lloyd's fathers death in Montana. She took Lloyd and his brother Alex, to all live in Oregon with their new step-dad. He joined the U.S. Navy in Portland, Oregon, in 1917 and served as a Watertender 1st Class during WW1. After the war he returned home and took a job briefly as a boiler maker, working at Nevada Consolidated Copper Company along with his step-father. He then decided to move to beautiful Southern California where he where he took a job as a policeman for Los Angeles Police Department in 192?. He next married Charlotte Hurst in 1925? and they had a daughter, Gertrude. His new career was coming alone nicely, by 1930 they owned a home near Echo Park. But by 1940 he was divorced and living as a lodger in the Los Angeles home of the widow, Neta A. Bliss. He started living in North Hollywood about 1942. About this time he had been promoted to Detective Lieutenant and began working on a number of high profile cases. Some of which included....
He married the widow Neta Adelaide Bliss in 19??. In 1954 he had retired and was living in Las Vegas, Nevada. By the 1960's he living in Bakersfield, California. He died at the age of 78. (Bio by: Jay Lance)
