OBITUARY :
THELMA MAE TEMPLON, 96, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 30, 1916, in Shenandoah, Va., she was the daughter of Ashby Edwin Printz and Mary Susan "Sudie" (Strickler) Printz.

Her father died of pneumonia when she was 6 years old, and when her mother married again, Cloyd Peyton Duncan of Pulaski, Va., became her stepfather.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Elvin Templon of Shenandoah and Hagerstown, Md., on Feb. 25, 1963. They lived in Shenandoah from their marriage on Jan. 31, 1935, until September 1937, when they relocated to Hagerstown.

She graduated from Beaver High School, Bluefield, W.Va., with the Class of 1934. She was employed in the ladies' sportswear department of The Bon Ton (formerly Eyerly's Inc.), Hagerstown, from 1963 until retirement in 1979. She was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church.

Her favorite leisure interests were gardening, quilting, crossword puzzles, sewing, reading, needlework of all kinds and watching TV.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Doris Hollis and husband, John; Kathryn Kretzer and husband, Brian; Richard Templon Sr. and wife, Eva Jean. Also surviving is her half-sister, Carroll Sue (Duncan) Pedigo of Flat Top, W.Va.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, stepfather and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two sons, Matthew Elvin Templon Jr. (infant) and John Ashby Templon; her sister, Ivy Louise (Printz) Asbury of South Dakota; and two grandsons.

A graveside service will be held in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry L. Lowans officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

On behalf of Thelma, the family expresses her love, thanks and farewell to the most wonderful, caring and generous neighbors in the world.
