Funeral Services for Mr. Allen D. "A.D." Boyd, 74, of Jonesville will be 2pm Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Jonesville with the Revs. Craig James and Tommy Fewell officiating. Interment will follow at Heard Cemetery near Jonesville under the direction of Comer Funeral Home, Ferriday.

Mr. Boyd was born on January 28, 1938 in Jonesville, to the union of Houston O. Boyd and Martha Adeline O'Neal Boyd, and passed from this life on February 26, 2012 at St. Francis Cabrini in Alexandria.

He worked many years as a consultant for PB-KBB in the oilfield industry and retired as a security officer for the Catahoula Prison. He loved his job and touched many lives while employed there. Mr. Boyd enjoyed listening to gospel music and loved singing, and was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and loved his church, although in his last days illness prohibited him from attending regularly like he would have liked to do.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Irene A. Boyd; three brothers, Lloyd Boyd, Houston Boyd, Jr., Joe H. Boyd; and two sisters, Olivia Wiley and Doris Hennigan.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Sarah Brown Boyd of Jonesville; one daughter, Cindy Boyd Edwards and husband David; one granddaughter, Megan Edwards Madden and husband David; one grandson, Matthew Edwards; one precious great-grandchild, Cooper Allen Madden all of Minden; three sisters, Linda Clingan and husband Bud, Wanda Wiggins and husband Lynn, and Thelma Creel and husband Larry; one brother, Billy Boyd and wife Helen; one sister-in-law, Corrine Boyd; one brother-in-law, Ezra Lee Wiley; and a host of nieces and nephews that held a very special place in his heart.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Clingan, Stevie McCarthy, Robert Wiggins, Rodney Wiley, Oliver Boyd, and Bobby Creel.

Friends may call for visitation on Tuesday after 5pm til 9pm at the church.
