FAIRMONT —
Jack Dale Wilson Jr., 55, of Mannington, passed away Wednesday (March 24, 2010) at his residence.
He was born July 16, 1954, at Fairmont, a son of Jack Dale and Sara Joan Thorne Wilson of Mannington.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Matthew E. Wilson of Mannington; one sister, Michele Wilson Smith and husband Martin of Powell, Ohio; one brother, Michael Wilson of Washington, D.C., and Moscow, Russia. He is also survived by a special niece, McKenna Smith, and two special nephews, Wilson and Jackson Smith, all of Powell, Ohio; his aunt, Ruth Ann Batson of Burgettstown, Pa.; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jill Diane Wilson; maternal grandparents, Edward Delmas and Dorothy Olive Thorne; paternal grandparents, Dale and Loretta Wilson; aunts and uncles, Phoebia and Charles Kennedy, Jack and Betty Thorne, Donald Thorne and Eugene Wilson.
Jack graduated from Mannington High School Class of 1972 where he was active on the football, wrestling and track teams. He attended Fairmont State University where he played football. He was a avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He retired from Dominion Hope with 33 years of service. He was an active member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 388 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 1344, both in Mannington. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Mannington.
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home in Mannington from 6-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Harry Holbert officiating. Burial will follow at Whetstone Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
