She married Ellis M. Rice on August 15, 1954 in the Monticello United Methodist Church and he survives.

She was a 1951 graduate of Garrett High School. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked various jobs over the years. She had worked as a telephone operator, assistant manager at Adler's dress shop, and also for Bryan's manufacturing all of Monticello. She was employed as the manger of the perfume department at Goldblatt's Department Store, Mishawaka. She worked as a manicurist at Chrisma Beauty Shop in Palatine, IL. She was part owner and manager of Unique Flower and Gift Shop in Warsaw. Before retiring in 1985, she worked part-time at Uniroyal also in Warsaw. She enjoyed flower gardening, bowling, arts and crafts, and pottery and ceramics. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority where she held many offices. Sigma Alpha is a philanthropic sorority dedicated to raising money for the Institute of Logopedics in Wichita, KS. She was a member of Wabash Chapter #90 of OES.

She is also survived by two daughters, two sons, brother, grandchildren.
