Linna Mae Beard, 93, passed away Sept. 24, 2001, in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1907, in Dawson County, Texas, to Leonard Franklin Kennedy and Iva Lee McWhorter Kennedy.
Linna Mae graduated from Lamesa High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University for two years. She opened a ceramics shop in 1947. For several years she was regional director of American Business Women's Association, president of the local Wool Center Chapter and member of the Daughters of the Nile, the local art guild and College Hills Baptist Church.
Linna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Iva Lee Kennedy; sister, Ruby Payne; son, Robert Clifton Magee; great-grandson, Andrew Clapper; and brother, Herbert Kennedy.
Linna Mae was married to C.O. Magee on June 30, 1927. He passed away March 27, 1950. She later married George Beard and he also preceded her in death.
Linna Mae resided at Royal Estates from May 1997 until her death. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Lakan Mariano of College Hills Baptist Church will officiate.
Linna is survived by her daughters, Marilyn M. Davis and husband, James, of Loudon, Tenn., and Linda L. Eskew and husband, Johnny, of San Angelo; grandchildren, Deborah Clapper, Robert Riddle Magee, Terri Lynn Hawkins, Marilyn Yvette Coleman, James Clifton Davis and Chad Clifton Magee; and great-grandchildren, James Clapper, Michael Clapper, Kailey Davis, Justin Hawkins, Jared Hawkins, Dillon Magee, Erin Magee, Reagan Magee, Logan Magee and T.R. Ford.
