Mr. Batten was a retired farmer and he was a US Army Veteran having served his Country during WWII.
Survivors include; son, Johnny Batten, Jr.; daughter, Gloria Ann Batten Barrett; 2 Sisters, Tishie B. Overstreet and Elizabeth B. Sears; 2 grandsons; Frank C. "Randy" Barrett III, John Burke Batten; 3 granddaughters, Sarah M. Batten, Hannah G. Batten and Hilary E. Barrett; and 2 great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Batten; brother, Benajah Batten, Jr. and one great grandson, Matthew Barrett.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Monday, September 3, 2001 in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home with the interment in the Satilla Memorial Gardens.
Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
