Andrew P. Geffert

Manhattan--Andrew P. Geffert, 89, Manhattan, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, at a Merriam nursing home.

Mr. Geffert farmed in Washington and Marshall counties several years before he moved to Manhattan in 1936 and established Geffert Real Estate and Insurance Co. He was an Army veteran of World War I, having served with the American Expeditionary Forces in France.

He was born Sept. 7, 1895, at Bremen, the son of Henry William and Ellen Sophia Peterson Geffert.

Mr. Geffert was a member of First Christian Church, Sertoma Club, American Association of Retired Persons, and Manhattan Garden Club and was a life member of Lee Pierson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1786, all at Manhattan.

Survivors include a daughter, a stepdaughter, three sisters, a grandson and our step-grandsons.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home in Manhattan. A Fort Riley detail will conduct graveside services in Sunrise Cemetery at Manhattan.
