Son of Harriet Nash and John Calvin Laughrey. Married to Sarah Melinda Darland on 27 Dec 1877.
Arrived at the Oklahoma territory line two weeks after the historical land run, where the people could stake a free claim on 160 acres of Indian land. They were known as "Sooners" because lots of them crept over the state line in the dark, many days ahead of the official start of the land run. He had to travel into the south part of the state near the Texas border near Fort Sill before they could find land that hadn't been claimed. The family later lived in Geronimo Ok.
