Kay J. Brookens, age 64, of Shepherd, passed away at her home on Monday February 27, 2012, with her family by her side.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday March 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seville Community Church of God; 8360 W. Monroe Rd., (M-46), Elwell with Pastor George Showers officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday March 2, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
Kay was born on June 28, 1947, in Alma to Maynard and Dorthy (Veeder) Smith. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1965. On November 27, 1965, she was united in marriage to Leonard Brookens in Alma.
Kay is survived by her husband, Leonard; four children, Tim (Tammy) Brookens of Shepherd, Terry (Peg) Brookens of Blanchard, Tracie (John Doherty) Brookens of Lake Isabella, and Shelly Haney of Greenville; four grandchildren, Trevor, Tegan, Brittany and Devon; and one brother, Eric (Kathy) Smith of Columbia City, Ind.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter Tammy.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan or to the Seville Community Church of God, Elwell.
