Louisa arrived in the US in 1871. In 1874 she married John Porta and they had 9 children. Their daughter Emma died at 32 leaving behind 2 daughters (3 yr old Hilda Louise and 1 year old Alma - my grandmother) . They were then raised by their father Leonard Seidel. When he died 11 years later - the girls each went to be raised by a grandmother - - Alma went to live with grandparents Louisa and John Porta.
