George came to California in 1862, removing to Carson City, NV by 1870 where he lost heavily in mining stocks. He returned to Placerville about four years ago.
He died in his room at the Western Hotel in Placerville of an apparent heart attack.
Survived by sisters Mrs. A. J. (Sarah) Lowry of Placerville, Mrs. George (Aggie) Congdon of San Francisco; brothers Alex Ardery, Superintendent of the Virginia Truckee Railroad and James Ardery, also of Nevada, engaged in mining. Two nieces also survive him, Mrs. Thomas Harris and Mrs. Susie Groezinger.
