NATCHEZ — Graveside memorial services for Earl W. Swoveland, 85, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Pastor Gregory officiating under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Swoveland was born April 28, 1921, in Burkburnette, Texas, one of 10 children born to Edith Garrison Swoveland and Joseph A. Swoveland. He graduated high school in Wewoka, Okla., where he was an outstanding athlete on the football, softball and track teams. He served in the Army Air Corps as a pilot during WWII. He was involved in the petroleum industry in several capacities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, off-shore and in Africa. He was an avid sports fan and has a great passion for fishing.

Survivors include a son, Keith Swoveland; a daughter, Denise Landers and husband Chris; step children, Darla Tippitt and John Swoveland , both of Natchez; life long friend, Rose Bigelow of Natchez; a brother, Wayne Swoveland and wife Grace of Tucson, Ariz.; three step grandchildren, Trace Huseman, Shannon Huseman and Harley Swoveland all of Natchez; great-granddaughter, Meaghan Huseman of Forrest; special nephew, Joe Swoveland and wife Gwen of Vidalia; several other cherished relatives and friends
