Lois Virginia Cavanaugh, 86, of Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro, Maryland, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital.
Born August 10, 1920 in Beaver Creek, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Samuel Gantz and Edna Amelia Newcomer Hartle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Judge Cavanaugh, Jr. on February 11, 1971.
She was previously employed with the Farmers & Merchants Bank in Hagerstown and Smithsburg.
She was a member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church.
She was active in Leitersburg and Smithsburg Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy A. Martin of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; one son, Homer J. Cavanaugh, III, of Boonsboro, Maryland; three sisters, Mary Bushey of Cavetown, Maryland, and Helen Wakenight and Edna Mae McClain, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George Hartle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Beaver Creek Christian Church, 9711 Beaver Creek Church Road, Beaver Creek, Maryland. Rev. J. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
