Charles "Don" Allen, 74, of Lake Greenwood formerly of Mauldin, widower of Catherine Sue Ingle Allen, died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Mt. Gilead, NC, he was the son of the late Irvin Wilbur and Annie Lois Wood Allen.
Mr. Allen was retired from Moore Business Forms and was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed wood working and coached various little league sports. Don achieved his life-long dream of retiring on the lake.
He was a devoted father to his three children, Todd Allen (Nancy) of Simpsonville, Donna Williams (Donnie) of Greer and Amy Sandifer (Tom) of Campobello; loving grandfather to Joey Brown, Denning Williams, Aaron, Ben and Harrison Sandifer, Ryan, Tyler and Hunter Allen; and special friend and companion, Sedalia Whaley.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Irvin Allen.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2012 from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Mauldin United Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Donna Williams.
