A rancher-banker and retired businessman, he was born in Sulphur Bluffs, Texas, the son of the late John Kennedy Hare and Nancy Singleton Hare.

At Texas A&M, he was president of his class and a member of the University boxing team and a local polo player. After graduation, he worked for Colliers Publishing Company.

Shortly after his marriage o the former Lynn Meyers of Dallas in 1935, they moved to Weatherford. They became parents of one daughter, Lynda.

Mr. Hare established International Harvester, Massey Ferguson and large equipment dealerships in the western part of Texas. He introduced the first Kubota tractor in Texas.

While he lived in Weatherford, he was a director and major stockholder of the First National Bank, board member of the Mutual Building and Loan Association, and director on numerous corporate Texas boards.

Upon his wife's death in 1976, Mr. Hare moved to Colorado Springs. In 1982, he married the former Louise Wunderlich.
