after the death of his first wife in childbirth he was the husband of Ellamae Dickman. He was a Signal Corps photographer during WW I. His nephew has both his swagger stick and an album of photographs taken in France during WW I. There was a photograph of President Wilson with him, taken during the war, where he was in uniform carrying his swagger stick.
