Thompson, Rose (Dale) - Obituary Funeral services were Dec 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Home for Rose M. Thompson, 93, Bozeman. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Lunch was served afterwards at Clara Hall’s home. Thompson died at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital Dec. 11. She was born the daughter of Wilford and Anna Courts Dale at Reese Creek Dec. 12, 1889. She married Charlie E. Thompson in Bozeman Dec. 21, 1911. She took out a homestead near Ennis and the couple lived there until 1915, moving to Nigger Holler where they purchased a quarter section and built a six room home. In 1925 the couple moved to the Gallatin Valley, living on different ranches until they moved to their present location in 1935 and purchased it in 1937. They sold all but 57 acres of the farm to the Gallatin County Airport in 1968. She attended schools at the Cracker Box, Reese Creek and Hawthorne. After her parents sold the ranch they bought a house in Bozeman about a block from the Hawthorne School. When she lived in Nigger Holler she was mid-wife and brought many of the children there into this world. She was one of 15 children that lived; three others died in infancy. She was the last survivor of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie and two sons, Buford M. and Clayton C. and a step-son, Cecil Thompson. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Monty and a granddaughter, Jeannine. She is survived by daughter Clara G. Hall, son Clyde C. Thompson and a daughter-in- law, Dorothy. She has six grandchildren living; Clayton Olsen, Beverly Hendrickson, Barbara Dennison, Bonnie McGuire, Scott and Carl Thompson. She has numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
