Gravestone inscription reads: "Nathan Bowen Born Sept 1, 1782 Died March 21, 1848"; as observed and recorded by Robert Sheldon Trim: "Rehoboth Gravestone Records" (1962), pg 134. From original data held at the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society, Rehoboth, Mass.
Death recorded in Arnold/VR of Rehoboth pg 801, as "Nathan Jr. of Nathan & Patience Mar 21, 1848, 64 years". This Nathan(7) was son of Nathan(6) & Patience (Lindley) Bowen.
This Nathan was involved in the building of a memorial , evidently for his pastor. Per Tilton's "History of Rehoboth" (1918) pg 302: "Another stone marks the grave of Elder Childs Luther who followed Elder Hix as pastor of the [Oak Swamp] Church, which he served from 1809 to 1841. The tomb here was erected by Nathan Bowen, Jr. in 1820. He [Elder Luther] died in 1853 aged 90 years". HCD 11-8-2020
