Mother - Mollie Mae Duncan Baggett
Mollie died with pneumonia on 9 January 1929 and Grady was left with a son, Amos Baggett, ten years old and an infant, Maury Baggett, only seven months old. Grady also had pneumonia at the time, and he was not able to go to his wife Mollie Baggett’s funeral. Mollie’s brother Sonoia Duncan and his wife kept the infant Maury Baggett for about a year after Mollie died.

Grady Baggett owned a sawmill at the time, and he sawed the timber into lumber for Levi Duncan and his daughter Ellen to build a house. They built near Levi Duncan’s son Senoia Duncan. His home was at Bowdon Junction, GA. Bowdon Junction is near Carrollton, GA. Grady Baggett’s son Amos hauled the lumber from the sawmill that was used to build the new house for his Grandfather Levi Duncan and his Aunt Ellen at Bowdon Junction, GA.

Mollie and Grady Baggett were very prosperous in their young life. They owned several hunderd acres of land, along with their new home built in 1928. They had laying hens, and Grady Baggett hauled the eggs about once a week to Villa Rica, GA to be shipped by rail to Atlanta, GA. They owned a General Merchandise Store on their farm. They had just moved into the new house in the fall before Mollie died in January of the next year. The house is still standing. Grady Baggett rebuilt the house by for his wife to live in, since he knew that death was shortly upon him in 1958. He died in February of 1959. It must have been shortly after Mollie’s death that Grady Baggett owned and operated the sawmill.
