Elly was a devoted wife and mother. Before her marriage, she had been a model for the John Powers Agency in NYC. During WWII she volunteered as a hostess at the Stage Door Canteen. She attended Newtown High School as a young girl. Elly was very active in her community. She served as President of the Garden City Extension Club, was a Pink Lady volunteer at Nassau Hospital, and a Brownie/Girl Scout leader.
