Her name at birth was Elin Isabella Gray, but she always went by Ella. Born in Fair Haven, she grew up in the area, attending Poultney High School. Dr. Griffin of Fair Haven and Poultney trained her as a practical nurse. A good business woman and devoted Methodist, she married Kirt West Adams as his second wife. They had one son together, and she considered her husband's children from his first marriage to be her children as well. Known for her intellect as well as her good cooking and excellent pies. Half (Scots)Irish, she embraced the WCTU, and followed its teachings all her life. I remember her lifting her water glass in toast at her grandson's wedding.
