CLEARFIELD - Thelma M. Bloom, 88, of Clearfield, died on Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

She was born on March 20, 1920, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late John and Alfaretta (Boyle) Hudson.

She is survived by: six daughters, Sandra Bloomberg, of DuBois, Norma "Sunny" Lora and her husband, Joseph, of Mentor, Ohio, Vicki Bloom of Cleveland, Ohio, Jenny Lisak and her husband, Thomas, of Troutville, Mary Ann Demi and her husband, Mike, of Reedsville, and Lisa Bloom and her husband, Tim Martin, of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Margaret E. Saval, of Dallastown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bloom, in 1961, whom she married Nov. 21, 1941, at St. Francis Church, Clearfield; a son Ronald Norman Bloom; two grandsons, five brothers: Thomas, Francis, John, Gerald, and Wayne Hudson; and two sisters: Dolores Anderson and Harriet Chwaliszewski.

Mrs. Bloom worked at the former Leitzinger's Department Store in Clearfield until her retirement in 1982.

She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.

A Christian vigil service will be held at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Saint Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to the charity of one's choice.
