One of the most unusual stones in the state is found in this cemetery as a marker to the graves of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Adams. The stone bears a carving of what was apparently the most interesting incident in their lives and which is described by the following story. One evening at milking time an eagle swooped low over the Adams barnyard, caught a young lamb by the head and started to fly away. Mr. Adams, who was in a nearby wood with his gun, concealed himself in a tree, and shot the eagle as it flew away. The lamb fell to the ground uninjured. The scene on the stone shows Mrs. Adams milking, the eagle flying away with the lamb in its talons, and Mr. Adams partially concealed in the tree with his gun.
